Migrating to Angular 5: 5 reasons why & 3 simple ways to do it

Angular is a structural framework from Google for dynamic web apps, specifically for single-page web applications. Future of Angular

Ever since the birth of Angular as a dynamic app framework in 2016, Angular team has been releasing a regular stream of Angular versions, such as JS, 2, 4 and 5 in a span of few years approximately. The current release is 5 and Angular 6 is just made available at the time of writing this whitepaper.

  • Establish the process time norms for creating/extracting a new library.
  • Establish the process time for verifying that a code change to a reusable lib does not break any apps and libraries that depend on it. Treat the dev machine and the CI experiences separately.
  • Adopt a process for refactoring multiple apps and libraries.
  • Adopt a process for assigning and checking ownership for better organization.
  • Establish a source control management strategy: trunk-based development or feature-based development. Try to make it the same for all apps and libraries.
  • Define an explicit policy of managing third-party dependencies.
  • Define state management and side effect management best practices. Automate as much as possible.
  • Derive and adopt testing best practices. Automate testing as much as possible.
  • Promoting organization-wide best practices is always beneficial
  • Adopt an organization-specific code analysis tool (such as tslint) from the inception.
  • Create and follow an organization-specific schematics package from the beginning.
  • Use automation as much as possible (e.g., set up automatic formatting).
