Client Overview
360 Med Care is an Australian orthopaedic health services platform specialising in knee, hip, and shoulder joint replacement surgery. Every procedure involves a tightly coordinated network of patients, surgeons, planning engineers, radiology centres, and implant brand representatives.
Before Classic Informatics built the platform, all of that coordination ran across manual processes and disconnected tools with no digital record, no audit trail, and no single view of a patient's care episode.
The Challenge
- Surgical plans and implant selections were communicated informally between engineers and surgeons
- Patient DICOM scans distributed outside any system with no version control or re-scan workflow
- Post-operative follow-up done manually with no standardised outcome milestones or data capture
- Hospitals, radiology centres, and implant OEMs each operated in separate silos
- No governance or audit trail existed for any clinical action across the care pathway
Our Approach
1. Build one platform for every stakeholder
Six distinct user roles — surgeons, engineers, radiology users, clinical staff, patient partners, and admins — each needed their own workflow and data scope. We built a single multi-tenant architecture so all stakeholders operate in one governed environment with no data leakage across organisational boundaries.
2. Digitise the surgical planning handoff end to end
The engineer-to-surgeon handoff was informal and untraceable. We built the full planning workflow — DICOM analysis, implant selection, bone resection calculations, plan versioning, and surgeon review — as a governed, auditable digital process from the start.
3. Automate outcome tracking across 24 months
Manual post-operative follow-up meant inconsistent data and missed milestones. We built the PROMs engine to dispatch questionnaires automatically at six clinically standardised milestones — eliminating manual coordination for every patient across the full recovery period.
4. Design for clinical data quality from day one
The platform's data now underpins published orthopaedic research. That level of quality is only possible when the data collection structure is correct from the start — not retrofitted after the fact.
What We Built
Care Pathway & Patient Management
- Patient booking, pre-operative assessment, and baseline health and pain score capture
- PROMs engine dispatching outcome questionnaires at 6 standardised post-operative milestones
- Response scoring, outcome trend visualisation, and escalation workflow per patient
- Calendar integration and appointment management for the full care team
Surgical Planning
- Engineer DICOM analysis, implant selection, and bone resection calculation workflow
- Multi-brand implant catalogue with sizing data and specification sheets
- Surgical plan report generation with full version control and revision cycle support
- Digital engineer-to-surgeon handoff with complete audit trail
Imaging & Integrations
- DICOM scan upload for CT, MRI, and X-Ray with multi-version management
- Re-scan request tracking with automatic upload status notifications
- Encrypted scan storage and retrieval
- Theatre schedule visibility for clinical staff attending procedures as brand advisors
Platform Architecture
- Six-role multi-tenant RBAC — hospitals, radiology centres, and implant OEMs as isolated tenants
- All clinical actions audit-logged with timestamp, user ID, and data state
- No data leakage across organisational or brand boundaries
Impact Delivered
Every stage of the joint replacement pathway — from patient booking through 24 months of post-operative recovery — now runs through one governed platform. Surgical planning, imaging, outcome tracking, and implant management are fully digitised and auditable across a network of 205 surgeon collaborators.
Business Impact
- 17,350 patients managed from booking through 24-month post-operative recovery
- 205 surgeon collaborators operating across hospitals, radiology centres, and implant brands
- PROMs data captured automatically at 6 milestones per patient — no manual follow-up
- Platform clinical data now underpins published orthopaedic research
- Complete audit trail established across every clinical action for the first time
