Client Overview
Addressya is a Swedish startup building a digital addressing system for markets where formal address infrastructure doesn't exist. The platform lets users create and share precise addresses using a combination of GPS, official address data, and user-generated information — enabling businesses to reach customers for home deliveries without delays or missed drop-offs.
Launched initially in Uganda and Rwanda, Addressya's vision is to give every person on the African continent a verifiable, shareable address — and every business a reliable way to reach them.
The Challenge
- No formal address infrastructure exists across large parts of rural Uganda and Rwanda — deliveries regularly failed or were delayed
- Addressya had an incomplete web application and no mobile app when they approached Classic Informatics
- No business directory existed to connect SMEs, online sellers, and buyers within the platform
- The platform had no data visualisation or analytics capability to support growth decisions
- Scaling to a growing user base required automation that the existing setup could not support
Our Approach
1. Assembled a dedicated team around the product
With a product at an early stage, we assigned a dedicated product owner alongside a 15+ member development team — giving Addressya the structured delivery capacity needed to build, iterate, and scale quickly.
2. Extended the platform beyond addressing into commerce
Rather than limiting the scope to address creation, we identified that connecting B2B, B2C, C2B, and C2C users within the same platform would unlock significantly more value for local businesses and buyers — and built that capability in.
3. Grounded every address in verifiable data
The platform was built around Google Maps as the core mapping layer — combining GPS coordinates, official address data, and user-generated input to ensure every address created was precise and map-verifiable.
4. Built analytics to support scale decisions
We introduced stats-based forecasting through BigQuery and Data Studio — giving the Addressya team data visualisation capability to understand user growth, address density, and business activity across regions.
