Client Overview
The Challenge
- The platform was managed by an external team that lacked the capacity to scale it as the business grew
- HUBBED had no ownership of its codebase or infrastructure, limiting its control over its own technology
- Each carrier was connected individually with no central system, making the partner network difficult to manage
- Click and collect, returns, failed deliveries, and inbound and outbound consignments were handled across a fragmented setup with no unified process
- There was no standard way to onboard new retail partners, agents, or locker locations
- Rebuilding a live platform processing thousands of daily transactions without any downtime was a significant operational risk
Our Approach
1. Mapped before proposing anything
We mapped every workflow, carrier connection, and system dependency before proposing any changes. This gave us a clear picture of what the platform needed to do before we decided how to change it.
2. Rebuilt progressively
We rebuilt the platform progressively — not all at once — so the live service stayed up throughout. A team of seven covering backend, frontend, API development, and infrastructure worked in stages to move fast while keeping risk low.
3. Set non-negotiables from the start
Security, reliability, and network scalability were set as fixed requirements from the start — not decisions left for later.

What We Built
Platform / System Design
- A single platform accessible via web, tablet, and mobile — used by carriers, retail partners, agents, and locker networks
- Built to manage the full parcel journey — click and collect, returns, failed deliveries, and inbound and outbound consignments — in one place
- Modular structure so new carriers, partners, and services can be added without changing the core system
Key Features Delivered
- End-to-end parcel workflows covering click and collect, returns, failed delivery, and inbound and outbound consignments
- Locker management for 7-Eleven locations — delivery agents drop off at a kiosk, the system assigns a locker, and the customer collects using a PIN
- Standard onboarding process for retail partners, agents, and locker locations
- Secure, account-based access for every partner and agent with location-code authentication at drop-off points
Integrations / Automation
- Direct API connections to Toll, DHL, TNT, UPS, and CouriersPlease for live consignment and tracking data
- Webhook-based notifications so customers and carriers are updated immediately when a parcel is dropped off or a delivery fails
- Automated locker assignment and parcel status updates across all workflows
Governance / Scalability / Security
- Full codebase and infrastructure transferred to HUBBED — giving the business direct ownership for the first time
- Platform migrated to the new setup with zero downtime
- 20 production servers managed as part of an ongoing technology partnership
Impact Delivered
HUBBED moved from a platform it did not own or control to one built around its actual operations. Every parcel workflow, carrier connection, and partner type now runs through a single system the business manages directly.
Business Impact
- Full ownership of the platform established — no longer dependent on an external team
- All parcel types handled in one place — click and collect, returns, failed deliveries, and inbound and outbound consignments
- New partners, agents, and locker locations can be added quickly through a single onboarding process
- Live carrier connections with Toll, DHL, TNT, UPS, and Couriers Please keep parcel data accurate across the network in real time
- Platform supports 1,700+ locations and 300+ partner networks processing over 10,000 transactions daily
